Karijini Trip - Week 4

Karijini Trip - Week 4

Day 22, Sat June 3 Very lazy start. A lovely French toast breakfast watching people to-ing and fro-ing (emptying their toilet cassettes in the dump point). A wonderful spot to have the dump point. At least there is a screen, just have to listen to it. Great coffee at the Saltwater Cafe. Also checked out the Shark Bay aerial photography on display by Christian Fletcher and others. Very inspired. On to the Aquarium where they have shark- feeding with a number of tanks with many varieties of fish, stingrays, turtles and squid. Squid are amazing. Have 3 hearts, blue blood...

Karijini Trip - Week 3

Day 15, Sun May 28 Another big day ahead. Microlight flight over Ningaloo. Not much sleep as the music from the Festival went way into the wee hours. Packed up and drove the van to the Light Aircraft airport. It's on the way to Coral Bay. Feeling a bit anxious, but I've paid my money and I'm going.I feel the need, the need for .....Valium. Karijini Trip - Week 2

Day 8, Sun May 21 It was the best of days, it was the worst of days. Best: swimming at Fern Pool. Worst: first trip to the Dump Point (no longer the Doctors job, no pun intended). Isn't a dump point supposed to be a hole in the ground that you pour nasty stuff down, not a pool of rising non-describable matter. Reported to the Camp Host. Last day here at Karijini. Told the Doctor I was going to do one sunrise. This is it! Up around 6.15 and headed down to Circular Pool Lookout. Haven't seen one damn dingo....

Just returned from an amazing trip to Karijini and Exmouth. Here is the full daily blog. Its rivetting reading! Day 1, Sun May 14 And so the adventure begins. Puds not happy, thinks he might stowaway. Away we go on our 3 week trip to Karijini, Exmouth and Coral Bay. Beautiful sunrise to start the day. Even on time at 7.15 departure.  First stop is New Norcia for a coffee and lemon tart. Thought we would just order takeaway and stop just up the road at a “P” stop. So drove for a least 20 minutes to a small deserted...

Dwellingup Camp

Dwellingup Camp

Spent 3 nights on the weekend before last, at Baden Powell Campground in the Lane Poole Reserve, Dwellingup. This was to test out our van for free-camping. A great location within an hour and a half from Perth. Its a really nice drive in through the hills. We did have a drama with people occupying our camp site when we first arrived, which put the dampener on things a bit, but still really enjoyed the location. As you can see it was "too tense". Ground is gravel, so bloody hard to get in tent pegs for screens. Tried using a...
